Brad
and his wife Brigette have two children, Samantha
and Tyler.
Working alongside his former teammate Brian Savage,
Brad is chairman of the Shoot
For a Cure Foundation, a campaign of the American
and Canadian Spinal Research Organizations, which
is directed at and led by the hockey community.
The campaign focuses on spinal cord research.
"Hockey
is such a fast game that I think we sometimes
forget how easily a spinal cord injury could occur
in our game. That's why it's so easy for all of
us to get involved with Shoot For A Cure."
Brad
has also donated his time to the Juvenile Diabetes
Foundation, and the wildly successful "Brad
May and Friends Hockey Challenge", benefiting
Canuck
Place Hospice.
Brad's
greatest hockey moments were scoring the OT game-winning
goal against Boston on May Day and winning the
World Junior Championships with Team Canada. Brad's
No.10 was retired by his junior club (Niagara
Falls Thunder). Growing up Brad Idolized Rick
Tocchet, Cam Neely and Steve Thomas.
Outside
of hockey, Brad loves to golf, and is currently
building a 36 hole course northeast of Toronto,
with his father and older brother.
"it’s
going to be the best new golf course in Canada
when it’s completed."
